There are lots of Scholarships in Canada for Undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. Degree programs in top Canadian universities for international students. So, having limited finances should no longer be an excuse to halt your dream of pursuing a post-secondary degree in Canada.
Here’s a list of some renowned Canadian scholarships available to international students in Canada;
1. Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships
This is the greatest scholarship for overseas students in Canada, funded by the Canadian government. The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship is granted to 166 winners each year and is worth $50,000 per year for 3 years.
It is open to both Canadian and international Ph.D. students studying at Canadian universities, and usually considers three equally weighted selection criteria: Academic Excellence, Research Potential, and Leadership (potential and demonstrated ability).
Scholars are usually nominated by their respective universities in the areas of health research, natural sciences, and/or engineering, as well as social sciences and humanities.
2. Study in Canada Scholarships.
Study in Canada Scholarships aim to increase opportunities for Canadian post-secondary institutions to welcome international students from a wide range of countries and territories on short-term exchanges for study or research.
The Study in Canada Scholarships is a Short-term Exchange Program under Global Affairs Canada’s International Scholarships Program. To be eligible, you must be;
- A citizen of an eligible country in Asia, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa.
- A student enrolled full-time at a post-secondary institution in an eligible country.
3. Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral scholarships
The Trudeau Foundation rewards up to 15 outstanding doctoral candidates who are enrolled or about to be enrolled in a social sciences and humanities program every year with up to $40,000 to cover tuition and reasonable living expenses, for at most three years.
The scholarships are open to foreign nationals, particularly those from developing countries, who are applying to a doctoral program in the social sciences and humanities or registered full-time in the first or second year of such a program at a Canadian university.
4. The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowships
The Faculty of Graduate Studies offers more than $2 million in University Graduate Fellowships each year to full-time graduate Masters and Ph.D. students in recognition of academic excellence.
Selected Master’s degree beneficiaries can receive as much as $14,000 per year for 12 or 24 months, while doctoral awards are valued at $18,000 per year for 12, 24, 36, or 48 months.
However, departments determine the value and duration of an award.You must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 to be considered for this award.
